Where and when is the Summit taking place?

This year the Summit will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at the Julius Nyerere International conference center.

What is Africa’s Food Systems Forum 2023 Summit?

  • Africa’s Food Systems Forum formerly (AGRF) is the largest Agriculture & Food Systems Forum in Africa.
  • The AGRF is the world’s premier forum for African agriculture, bringing together stakeholders in the agricultural landscape to take practical actions and share lessons that will move African agriculture forward.

What is the AGRF 2023 Summit theme?

The Africa Food Systems Forum 2023 Summit’s theme, “Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa’s Solutions to Food Systems Transformation,” focuses on building back better food systems and food sovereignty with youth and women at the center.

The theme identifies three steps needed to achieve this transformation: Recovery, Regenerate, and Act.

Recovery calls for decisive strategies and actions to rebuild food systems after multiple crises and shocks.

Regenerate emphasizes the need to regenerate natural capital resources with adaptation practices, innovation, and technology for sustainable food production in a changing climate context.

Act urges urgent action to accelerate food systems transformation through better policies, practices, and investments.


Do I need to register?

  • You need to register to attend the Summit for In-Person and virtual participation. Virtual participation is free. In-Person registrations will open on May 12th, 2023, look out for details on our website and social media channels on how to register.

Where can I find profiles of speakers?

We are expecting to have an exciting speaker line -up at the AGRF 2023 this year. Speakers will include Heads of States, food systems champions, women leaders, youth, farmers alongside key industry leaders and heads of government. The summit is expected to attract about 350 speakers from the continent and beyond. Speaker profiles will be uploaded on the website from July 1st, 2023 – please visit our website for announcement on key speakers.


What can I expect from the summit program?

The AGRF 2023 Summit program is built on three key pillars: ambition, action, and partnership.  Some of the key sessions include:

  • The Presidential Summit comprised of Heads of State & Government, eminent persons a plenary on Africa’s leadership towards food systems transformation.
  • Good morning, AGRF! Each morning gets people excited about the tracks and events of the day. Hosted by selected youth coming from GoGettaz, the host country, and youth organizations.
  • Youth Townhall: The session will elevate the discussion on harnessing the power of young people to transform the continent’s potential in agriculture into real action.
  • CEO Chat: An interactive parallel panel of distinguished leaders discussing key insights on shaping the future of food systems.
  • Future of Food Systems: Innovators showcase serving as red thread sessions and showing the path forward for Africa’s food systems advancement – including availability, affordability, and accessibility.
  • The Farmers Forum will shine a spotlight on the continent’s farmers – the progress, challenges, and action needed.
  • The Ministerial Round Table: A platform for reflection and stocktaking on the political and financial components the continent has achieved.
  • Gender Caucus: Will bring together women leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities to support women in food systems value chains.

What are the goals of the AGRF 2023 Summit?

The Summit aims to deliver the following outcomes:

  • Share African innovations to scale up solutions to global food systems challenges, and assess progress made in transforming food systems across the continent and globally.
  • Review the progress on investments and commitments made through the summit and the agribusiness deal room.
  • Renew political commitments to advancing climate-resilient food systems for women and youth.
  • Launch the presidential legacy program– Tanzania’s programmatic business model for piloting and scaling food system transformation.
  • Mobilize innovative financing instruments such as catalytic funds to support youth and women-led agribusinesses.

How much is registration?

Delegate registration will be in different categories:

  • All access pass (across the entire 4 days of the summit) – USD. 350
  • 2-day access pass: USD.150
  • Local resident rate – Tsh. 235,000

How can I make my hotel booking?

Hotel bookings can be made through our registration platform which opens on May 12th, 2023. Once you register and make your payment you will be directed a selection of hotels where you can make your booking and pay directly for your accommodation.
