Overview

The AGRF, Africa’s premier forum for driving the food and agriculture agenda in the continent, will host its 12th annual summit under the theme Grow. Nourish. Reward – Bold Actions for Resilient Food Systems from September 5-9, 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Together with the Government of Rwanda and the AGRF partner’s group, the AGRF 2022 Summit will provide a platform to reflect on the coordinated large-scale action by leaders, institutions, investors, coalitions, and individuals to accelerate action towards translating commitments made into actionable strategies and progress on the ground.

The summit will convene leaders from governments, businesses, civil society, and international organizations alongside innovators, financiers, experts, scientists, entrepreneurs, and youth. To enrich and complement the Forum and to give its partners and other stakeholders an opportunity to highlight their work, the AGRF is inviting partners to submit proposals to convene side events during the Pre-Day in advance of the Summit: September 5, 2022

DEADLINE for Submissions: July 15, 2022. Submissions will be reviewed and may be accepted, requested for combination, or declined.

Criteria, Guidance and Conditions

Side events organized within the sidelines of the official sessions of the AGRF 2022 Summit to provide an informal opportunity for partners and accredited organizations to exchange information and experiences on diverse issues related to the objectives and outcomes of the summit.

The following are the general AGRF Side Events Criteria, Guidance and Conditions:
  • Side Events must be relevant to the AGRF mandate and its programme of work
  • The Theme for this AGRF in 2022 is: Grow. Nourish. Reward – Bold Actions for Resilient Food Systems
  • Although partners are free to design side events within the framework of the 2022 AGRF theme, this year the AGRF summit report will specifically highlight those side-events promoting “Innovations in Food Systems”
  • Priority will be given to Side Events that reflect the AGRF multistakeholder model and include different AGRF constituencies. Gender parity is expected in panels. Geographic diversity, and youth presence will be positively considered.
  • Side Events should maximize interactivity with a minimum of 30%-50% of the total time allocated for interactivity with the audience. A maximum of 5 speakers including chairs is recommended.
  • In the event that two or more Side Event applications are received on a similar theme, the organizers may be asked to merge their proposals. AGRF stakeholders are requested to be flexible if this occurs.
  • Kindly note that the AGRF Secretariat will only consider side-events that are In-Person only.

Important Notes

  1. If your application is accepted, you will be invited to submit a full concept note of your event which can be published.
  2. The Secretariat will list the Side Events on the agenda of the program. However, we do not guarantee attendance. Side event organizers are encouraged to promote their events.
  3. Events will occur In-Person and organizers expected to identify and procure their own venue to host their side event, outside the Kigali Convention Center.
  4. You will be required to have a rapporteur at your session and send the rapporteurs report to the Secretariat after the session. This will enable the Secretariat to include your content on the AGRF website and other collateral.
  5. We will require you to share AGRF survey link to all participants at your side event.
