Mr Aliyu A. Abdulhameed

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL)

Mr Aliyu A. Abdulhameed was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) in December 2015.

Prior to his appointment as the MD/CEO, Mr Abdulhameed worked as a pioneer Executive Management Team member of NIRSAL in the NIRSAL Project Implementation Office in the Central Bank of Nigeria.

In a career spanning 25 years, Abdulhameed has worked in various organizations key amongst which is Kewalrams/Chanrai-AFCOTT Group, acquiring deep and hands-on experience in key sub-sectors of the emerging African agricultural economy with special focus on Nigeria.

Through a blend of technical competence, results-focused leadership and passionate advocacy, Abdulhameed has laid a strong foundation for realizing NIRSAL’s vision of transforming the Agriculture sector through de-risking the Agricultural Value Chains to enable the flow of finance and investments to agricultural value chain actors.

Mr Abdulhameed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with specialization in Public Policy from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) with a dissertation on the organic link between food security and national security.

He also holds an Executive Masters Certificate in Project Management from the Project Management College (UK).
