Dr. Bashir A. Jama is a lead specialist on food security and sustainable developments at the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Before joining the bank nearly years ago, Dr. Jama worked with several organizations: the Alliance for a Green Revolution; the United Nations Development Program, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) – one of the 16 Consultative Group of International Agricultural Centres, and Ministry of Energy of Kenya. Dr. Jama has conducted research on and published extensively on innovations for enhancing food security, on fertilizer, integrated soil fertility and water management technologies under smallholder low-input systems in sub-Sahara Africa. He has also published on strategies for drylands resource management and conservation. Additionally, Dr. Jama has supervised many graduate students on these areas and is also consulted widely on them by both research and development agencies.
